Your guide

Tony Zanotelli

Born and raised in Northern California. Tony has spent years learning every arm, cove, and point on Shasta Lake. His approach is simple: put you on fish and teach you something along the way.

Local knowledge

Shasta Lake year-round. Tony knows the seasonal patterns, structure, and water levels that drive the bite.

Teaching focus

Every trip includes hands-on instruction. Casting, rigging, reading electronics, working structure.

All skill levels

First-timers and experienced anglers both welcome. Tony adjusts the day to match your goals.

What to expect

Your day on the lake

Not sure what a guided fishing trip looks like? Here's the breakdown so you know exactly what to expect from start to finish.

Before the trip

Meet Tony at the launch point. He'll have the boat loaded, electronics on, and tackle rigged. Quick rundown of the plan, safety, and what the lake is doing that day.

On the water

Tony works through productive spots based on season, water temp, and conditions. Expect hands-on coaching: casting angles, bait presentation, reading your electronics.

What's included

All rods, reels, tackle, bait, and electronics. Full-day trips include lunch. You just need your fishing license, sunscreen, and water.

Weather and cancellation

Tony monitors conditions closely. If the weather makes it unsafe, trips are rescheduled at no charge. Light rain? The bass love it.

Seasonal fishing

When to fish Shasta Lake

Shasta Lake fishes well year-round. Each season brings different patterns, species focus, and techniques.

Dec to Feb

Spotted bass

Winter

Fish slow and deep. Spotted bass stack on steep bluffs and main-lake points. Finesse techniques shine in cold, clear water.

Mar to May

Largemouth bass

Spring

Pre-spawn and spawn. Largemouth move shallow into coves and flats. Topwater bites start heating up as water temps climb past 60.

Jun to Aug

Bass and trout

Summer

Early mornings and late evenings are prime. Bass feed aggressively on shad schools. Trout fishing picks up near the dam.

Sep to Nov

Trophy bass

Fall

The best window for big fish. Bass feed hard before winter, following baitfish into the arms. Consistent action all day.

Trip reviews

Hear from anglers who have fished Shasta Lake with Tony.

Tony put us on fish all morning. My son caught his first largemouth and hasn't stopped talking about it. Can't wait to come back.

Jesse K.

Half Day Trip

Best guide on the lake. Tony knows every point, cove, and brush pile. He taught me more about bass fishing in one day than I learned in a year on my own.

Maya R.

Full Day Trip

We booked a two-day trip and caught over 40 bass between us. Tony adjusted the game plan each day based on conditions. Totally worth it.
